Alyssa 'AlyRey' Reynolds (b. 1992) is an artist, poet, and life coach based in Madison, Wisconsin. Dedicated to creating only original works, Alyssa’s art integrates the many facets of their life, inspired by the poetry and interconnectedness of all things. Rooted in abstract expressionism, their work invites viewers to connect with layers of emotion and meaning, offering a uniquely personal experience.
Since 2018, Alyssa has shared their art across southern Wisconsin, often favoring outdoor spaces enhanced with customized lighting to showcase its transformative qualities. Guided by a philosophy rooted in community, Reynolds believes art should be accessible to all at an obtainable price point & provides flexible pricing on most of their works. For more information about this please reach out to the artist directly.
Alyssa’s creative process begins with bold, intuitive gestures—'acts of creation'—that capture energy and movement. These gestures evolve into meticulous detail work, blending patience and precision to create intricate, layered pieces. By combining their passion for painting and drawing, Alyssa uses smaller-scale paperworks to develop ideas and techniques for larger works.
Incorporating light-reactive materials such as neon paints, reflective surfaces, and glow-in-the-dark accents, Alyssa’s work transforms with its environment. These dynamic elements invite viewers to explore shifting perspectives and uncover hidden details as light and surroundings evolve.
Reynolds’ work explores the profound interconnectedness of life, balancing playful, expansive gestures with intricate, introspective details. 'Take what you need,' they encourage, as viewers engage with the playful, mindful, and intentional coincidences of their work.
